Tortuga Foundry

Overview

The Tortuga Foundry is the industrial heart of The Forgelands, built directly into the stone skirt of the Tortuga Monolith. The site was chosen for three reasons: proximity to the deep iron seams beneath the monolith, abundant exposed stone for quarrying, and the sheer scale of the rock formation itself, which makes the foundry feel like part of the landscape rather than an imposition on it.

Purpose

Every major build in The Forgelands consumes processed material at a rate hand-smelting cannot sustain. The foundry centralizes that work. Banks of blast furnaces handle ore, arrays of standard furnaces process stone and glass, and a super smelter core fed by automated hoppers keeps throughput steady around the clock.

Current Status

The primary furnace hall is operational and already supplying the Grand Rail Line with smelted iron and gold. The second phase, a dedicated copper wing intended to process output from the Dripstone Copper Pit, is framed but not yet fitted. Fuel logistics from the Spruce Logging Camp remain manual until the rail spur arrives.

Field Notes

The Smithies faction regards the foundry as the most important structure in the world and has been informally credited as its patron. The Copperlings have petitioned, repeatedly, for the copper wing to be finished first. Negotiations continue.
