The Ancient Lands Archive: Minecraft Archaeology Lore and Expedition Records

The Ancient Lands is a discovery-focused archive of ruins, forgotten civilizations, archaeology, lost structures, and the mysteries Andy uncovers beyond settled civilization.

The Ancient Lands is a discovery-focused archive: ruins, forgotten civilizations, lost structures, and the slow, careful work of archaeology far beyond settled territory. Where The Forgelands archive records what Andy The Maker builds, this archive records what others built first — and what remains of them.

The Premise

The Ancient Lands is a separate expedition world located 49,820,000 blocks from Savanna Villa — not a region of The Forgelands, but a distant, world-scale setting where ruins are not rare but constant. More than twenty years ago Andy first sailed there with his fellow explorer Donaldson and returned with a treasure ship that made his fortune. Now he is returning, after word arrived through the Wandering Trader network that Donaldson discovered something inside an ancient volcano — and then vanished.

The series follows Andy's excavations into that territory: surveying ruins before disturbing them, cataloging artifacts where they lie, and assembling, fragment by fragment, the histories of civilizations that left no other record — among them the cave-dwelling Deepkin and the oceanic Nautilari.

The discipline is the point. Every site is documented before it is entered, every find is logged before it is lifted, and conclusions are written in pencil. The Tablet of Factions, recovered in The Forgelands, taught the Archives that the past is closer than it looks; The Ancient Lands is where that lesson is pursued deliberately.

State of the Archive

This archive is young. The first field season is underway, the first survey grids are staked, and the bulk of its records are still classified as pending — finds logged in the field that have not yet been written up to archival standard. They will be. The ruins have waited this long; they can wait for accurate paperwork.

Categories

Records mirror the structure of The Forgelands archive: a Canon World Bible for the foundational facts, Lore and Factions for the peoples reconstructed from the ruins, In-World Archives for primary-source notices and field documents, Locations and Settlements for the sites themselves, and Expeditions and Other Worlds for travel and the networks that span them — alongside the Timeline of field seasons and the Episode records of published expeditions. Everything else fills in as the brushwork continues.

Why The Ancient Lands Are Different

A viewer's guide to what sets The Ancient Lands apart from The Forgelands — a world so dense with ruins that history is the landscape, and a return for Andy rather than a beginning.
