ActiveAncient Lands Foundation Canon
The core premise, distance, history, and story function of The Ancient Lands — Andy's discovery world, and the setting of his first fortune and his return for Donaldson.
Identity
The Ancient Lands is a separate expedition world located 49,820,000 blocks from Savanna Villa, Andy's home in The Forgelands.
The Ancient Lands is not part of The Forgelands. It is one of Andy's major cross-world expedition settings.
Story Function
The Forgelands is Andy's home civilization.
The Ancient Lands is Andy's discovery world.
It is where old ruins, ancient peoples, buried structures, dungeon networks, ore spires, lost cities, and forgotten civilizations exist in overwhelming density.
Andy's First Expedition
More than twenty years ago, Andy traveled to The Ancient Lands by sailing ship with Donaldson.
Donaldson was an explorer of equal skill, known for taking greater risks than Andy.
The first expedition made Andy wealthy. He returned to Savanna Villa with a treasure ship carrying hundreds of blocks of deepslate ores, diamonds, emeralds, totems of undying, and other rare finds.
That expedition helped shape Andy's reputation as an explorer, archaeologist, and anthropologist.
Current Return
Andy is returning to The Ancient Lands after learning that Donaldson has disappeared.
Donaldson reportedly discovered something inside an ancient volcano. He was expected to return to local villagers, but more than five months have passed without word.
Andy learned this through the Wandering Trader network.
World Age
The exact age of The Ancient Lands is unknown.
It feels older than The Forgelands. Many ruins are so old that they are difficult to recognize as ruins. Some structures were buried by landslides that became hills or mountains over time.
Language Barrier
The villagers and native peoples of The Ancient Lands speak languages unfamiliar to Andy and Donaldson.
Communication is often possible through wandering traders, who maintain trade, translation, and message networks across vast distances.
