Faction Record
ActiveThe Agrarians
The farming faction of The Forgelands, practical stewards of soil and season who measure every proposal by what it does to the land.
The Agrarians
The Agrarians are the farming faction of The Forgelands: growers, herders, and keepers of soil who hold the northern plains and most of the world's food supply. They are the least dramatic of the four factions and, by any practical accounting, the one The Forgelands could least afford to lose.
Doctrine
Agrarian doctrine fits in a sentence: the land was lent, not given. Every proposal that touches soil or water is measured against a single question — what does it leave behind? Projects that pass are supported with seed, labor, and patience. Projects that fail are not opposed loudly; the Agrarians simply do not show up, and in a world that runs on food, absence is a veto.
Territory and Relations
The Agrarians work the plains around the MacGruder Family Homestead, which they treat as neutral ground — an arrangement honored since the founding. They regard the Stone of Growth with practical reverence and Elara with practical caution, and Bronwyn MacGruder, though formally unaffiliated, is the person they most often send to speak for them. Their endorsement of the Brickworks Empire — the only extraction project they have publicly approved — rests entirely on its wetland restoration practice, which they audit, unannounced, on foot.
The Tablet
The Agrarians' mark on the Tablet of Factions is the sheaf. Shown the Tablet, they nodded, asked no questions, and went back to work. The Archives have been unable to determine whether this reflects indifference or prior knowledge, and the Agrarians, characteristically, have not volunteered which.
Field Notes
They have offered seed stock to the Museum of Biomes. The offer came with one condition: nothing in the exhibits may be planted that cannot also be returned.
