Savanna Villa

The central home base and operational hub of The Forgelands, grown from a first-night shelter into the headquarters of a civilization.

Savanna Villa

Savanna Villa is the operational center of The Forgelands and the oldest continuously occupied site in the world. It stands on a savanna plateau near the geographic center of the settled districts, which is no accident: as the civilization grew, it grew around the Villa.

Known Role

The Villa serves as residence, central warehouse, planning office, and expedition launch point. Its storage halls hold the master inventory of the world, organized by the same system now being rolled out across the wider storage network. The map room contains the working survey charts for the Grand Rail Line, and the eastern terrace holds the foundations of the line's first station.

History

The site began as a dirt-and-plank shelter dug in on the first night in the world. That original shelter still exists, preserved intact inside the modern compound as a deliberate historical record. Successive expansions added the main house, the storage halls, the smithing wing, the enchanting library, and the walled forecourt, all built in the terracotta, brick, and acacia palette that the Villa established for the entire world.

Layout

The compound is organized around a central courtyard. The main house occupies the north range, storage the west, workshops the east, and the forecourt opens south toward the road network. The Whispering Well sits just beyond the outer wall, predating every structure around it.

Field Notes

The road north to the MacGruder Family Homestead was the first formal infrastructure ever built in The Forgelands. It is still walked daily, and it will run parallel to the first leg of the rail line, by design.
