The Comprehensive Zoo
The Comprehensive Zoo is the longest-running preservation project in The Forgelands: an ongoing effort to collect and house every mob in the world, hostile and passive alike, in enclosures built to match their native environments. The project may never be formally finished. The project considers this a feature.
Purpose
Each enclosure is a living archive entry: a creature, its habitat, and its documented behavior, observable at any hour. The passive wing doubles as breeding stock for the agricultural district. The hostile wing, constructed with considerably more deepslate, stands as a working reminder of what the night meant before walls and torchlight.
Current Collection
Eleven enclosures are complete, including the savanna paddocks, the frog wetland, and the axolotl grotto, which required three separate cave expeditions to populate and is widely considered worth all of them. The hostile wing holds zombies, skeletons, and a single creeper behind double-layered glass that is inspected weekly. Transport chains for larger and stranger acquisitions are mapped and pending.
Standing Rule
Every enclosure follows the same order of priorities: the animal's needs first, the viewer's sightlines second. No exceptions have been granted. Several have been requested.
Field Notes
The goat arrived by accident. It rammed Andy off a cliff near Cherry Mountain, survived the retaliatory capture attempt, and now occupies the largest enclosure in the Zoo, which it has damaged twice. Lorne MacGruder has named it. The Archives decline to print the name, as it changes weekly.
