Spruce Logging Camp
The Spruce Logging Camp is the timber operation of The Forgelands, established in the great spruce forests south of the central plateau. Every plank, every fence post, and most of the fuel burned in the Tortuga Foundry's furnaces begins here.
Known Role
The camp manages the harvesting and replanting cycle for the southern forests. Operations run on a strict rotation: each harvested stand is replanted before the next is cut, with bone meal stocks maintained for accelerated regrowth. The result is a forest that produces continuously without visibly shrinking, which is the entire point.
Layout
The camp consists of a main lodge, a drying shed, a sawpit, and a log flume that floats timber down to the collection pond at the forest's edge. The flume is the camp's one indulgence: a channeled watercourse running nearly two hundred blocks downslope, built after one too many seasons of hauling logs by hand. It is also, the record must note, extremely fun.
Logistics
Timber currently moves north to Savanna Villa by road, which is the slowest link in the world's supply chain. A rail spur from the Grand Rail Line is planned to terminate at the collection pond, and the camp's output figures are a standing argument for building it early.
Field Notes
Roric MacGruder works a seasonal rotation at the camp and has proven better with an axe than anyone expected, including Roric. Wolves den in the deep forest south of the cut line. By camp policy, they are left alone.
