Overview

The Grand Rail Line is the flagship infrastructure project of The Forgelands and the largest single undertaking Andy The Maker has committed to in any world. The plan calls for a continuous powered rail network linking Savanna Villa, the MacGruder Family Homestead, Scalloped Gulch, the Spruce Logging Camp, Cherry Mountain, and the industrial district forming around the Tortuga Monolith.

Purpose

The Forgelands was founded on a simple thesis: chaos becomes order through logistics. Every district of the world produces something the others need. Spruce timber moves south, copper and iron move east, crops move everywhere. Before the rail line, all of it moved on foot, one shulker box at a time. The Grand Rail Line replaces that with scheduled, repeatable, scalable transport.

Current Status

Survey work is complete for the first leg between Savanna Villa and the MacGruder Family Homestead. Track bed has been graded, the first station footprint is laid at the Villa, and powered rail production is the current bottleneck. The Dripstone Copper Pit and the gold reserves it sits near are being developed in part to feed this project.

Field Notes

The route deliberately follows the terrain rather than tunneling through it. Bridges, cuttings, and switchbacks make the line longer, but they also make it visible. A railway you can see from a ridgeline is a statement that civilization has arrived.

Future spurs are already planned. The mainline is designed so that no district added later will ever be more than one junction away from the network.
