Structure Record
DiscoveredThe Jungle Ziggurat
A great stepped ziggurat rising from the jungle of The Uncharted Lands — overgrown, lantern-lit, and apparently reclaimed, it may become one of the expedition's most important sites.
Beyond the river and deeper into the interior of The Uncharted Lands, a large ziggurat rises from the jungle.
It is the kind of structure that stops an explorer mid-step.
Vines hang from its terraces. Hanging gardens and small plots cling to its stepped sides. Banners still hang along its walls, and lanterns glow across its faces even now, as if someone — or something — has not entirely let it fall dark.
A Reclaimed Place
The ziggurat does not read as a simple ruin.
It appears inhabited, reclaimed, or partially restored. Planters, walkways, and lit passages suggest that the jungle was not the only thing that returned to it. Whether the lights are the work of a surviving people, later settlers, or travelers passing through, Andy cannot yet say.
What is clear is that the structure was built to matter. Its scale, its terraces, and its commanding position over the surrounding jungle all speak of a civilization that wanted this place to be seen.
Why It Matters
For Andy, the ziggurat is more than a landmark.
It is evidence that the lost peoples of The Uncharted Lands built on an ambitious scale, and that some of their work has survived in a form complete enough to study, shelter in, and perhaps one day make use of. The structure may become an important expedition site as Andy maps the river country and pieces together who once lived here.
For now, it remains a discovery, not an answer.
A great shape in the green.
A light that should not still be burning.
And one more reason to follow the river inland.
