ActiveFirst Landing Cove
The sheltered cove at the mouth of a great river where Andy first makes landfall in The Uncharted Lands — his first foothold in a distant, ancient world.
First Landing Cove is the place where Andy first reaches The Uncharted Lands.
After months at sea, he docks his ship in a small cove near the mouth of a great river system. The surrounding land is unexplored. The river appears to lead deep into the continent's interior, making the cove the natural starting point for Andy's first expedition route.
Known Features
- A sheltered cove suitable for docking
- A great river mouth leading inland
- Andy's sailing ship
- One last barrel of supplies
- An ancient abandoned boat nearby
- A distant lantern glowing on the shore cliffs
- Unexplored shoreline, cliffs, and riverbanks
The Abandoned Boat
The abandoned boat near Andy's landing site is one of the first mysteries of The Uncharted Lands.
It appears ancient and long-abandoned, yet it remains afloat.
No explanation is currently confirmed. It may have been built with lost materials or forgotten techniques, protected by old preservation methods, abandoned more recently than it first appears, or drifted into the cove from another part of the coast. It may even mark an old route into the river system.
Andy intends to investigate before drawing any conclusions.
The Lantern on the Cliffs
The lantern visible from the cove is the first sign that Andy may not be entirely alone.
It could be a surviving outpost, a ruin with old lighting, a camp left by previous explorers, a warning beacon, or a sign of villagers, illagers, traders, or some other unknown group.
For now, it remains an unexplored light in a place that should be empty.
Field Notes
First Landing Cove establishes vulnerability.
Andy is far from home, low on supplies, and surrounded by questions. Unlike The Forgelands, where he works from an established home base, The Uncharted Lands begins with uncertainty.
This cove is not a settlement yet.
It is the first foothold.
